Dr. Sandra Timmermann is nationally recognized for her work in aging, retirement and the application to business. She is currently the Visiting Professor of Gerontology and Retirement Living at the American College of Financial Services, a Senior Fellow at the Women’s Institute for a Secure Retirement, and a consultant to a global insurance company and other businesses on retirement issues.
Sandy was a Vice President at MetLife and the Founder and Director of the MetLife Mature Market Institute, the company’s focal point on retirement research and thought leadership, until it was disbanded in 2013. She has been in the aging field for over 30 years, holding senior positions at the American Society on Aging, AARP and SeniorNet and serving in leadership positions on national boards of directors including the Business Forum on Aging, the National Alliance for Caregiving, the National Aging in Place Council and others. She also represents the International Federation on Ageing at the United Nations.
A writer and frequent speaker, Sandy is the Financial Gerontology columnist for the Journal of Financial Service Professionals and has been interviewed by hundreds of media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Kiplinger’s, Bloomberg, CNN, and USA Today.
