As EVP, Chief Advocacy & Engagement Officer, Nancy LeaMond oversees AARP’s Community, State & National Affairs group. She is responsible for government affairs and legislative campaigns at the federal, state and local level for AARP, widely seen as one of the most powerful advocacy organizations in the country, as well as public education, volunteerism, multicultural outreach and community engagement.

Nancy also leads major AARP initiatives that include supporting family caregivers through advocacy, education and innovative programs and expanding AARP’s local footprint in communities across the country. She leads a team of 700 staff and more than 17,000 volunteers across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Prior to joining AARP, Nancy served as the Chief of Staff and Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Congressional Affairs at the Office of the United States Trade Representative. She also worked extensively on health care and pension issues in government, as a Chief of Staff on Capitol Hill and running a nonprofit focused on economic competiveness.

Nancy holds a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a master’s degree in public policy and urban planning from Harvard University.
