Matthew Halpert
As the Director of R&D for Medterra, Dr. Halpert is responsible for all CBD and product related research and development. From performing pharmokinetic studies to reviewing the latest peer reviewed publications on CBD, Dr. Halpert ensures that all Medterra products are designed and formulated for maximum efficacy.
In addition to assisting Medterra, Dr. Halpert holds a faculty position at the Baylor College of Medicine. Within his research lab, the team is focused on studying basic immunological processes, homeostatic regulation, and cancer immunotherapy. In addition, Dr. Halpert is the Director of R&D of Diakonos Research Ltd, an early stage cancer immunotherapy company.
Dr. Halpert earned his B.S. (Biology/Chemistry) at Southwestern University (Georgetown, TX) from 2002-2006. Dr. Halpert then went straight into a doctoral program at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he was a member of the inaugural HHMI-Health to Med Program (with a focus on translating science to the clinic). Dr. Halpert earned his PhD in 2011 from the Department of Microbiology with a focus on Immunology.
A few years after taking that position, Dr. Halpert joined the faculty. In his career, he has 29 peer reviewed publications, which have been cited over 100 times, and currently have 4 outstanding manuscripts undergoing review.
