Teresa A. Keenan is the Director of the Health Security Research Department in AARP’s Research Center.  In her current position, she manages a team of research and administrative professionals who work on a broad range of complex and highly visible research projects relevant to all divisions within the organization.  Teresa and her team provide expert research, advice, and consultation to organizational clients and stakeholders as well as to external parties, where appropriate. Their current focus is on health-related topics, including health care delivery, Medicare and Medicaid, prescription drugs, healthy living, and caregiving.

Prior to her current position, Teresa served as the Director of the 50-Plus Research Department at AARP.  Her responsibilities included management and oversight of research to support membership marketing, recruitment, and retention; market segmentation; customer (member) satisfaction; brand development and awareness; new product development; and publications readership and diagnostics.  She also was the lead researcher for a number of the Association’s consumer-facing efforts on a variety of topics, including housing, transportation, and livable communities; health promotion and disease prevention; emerging health technologies; prescription drug affordability; and Affordable Care Act (ACA) implementation.

Teresa holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Cornell University, where she was affiliated with the Population and Development Program.
