Stuart Rosenthal founded The Beacon newspapers 26 years ago together with his wife, Judy, and they continue to publish three monthlies addressing the interests of residents 50 and over in Greater Washington, D.C., Greater Baltimore, and Howard County, Md. A licensee publishes a fourth Beacon in Palm Springs, Calif. The papers, with a readership exceeding 450,000, have won numerous national awards for excellence.

 

Stuart also chairs Maryland’s Commission on Aging, which advises the governor and department of aging on issues concerning older Marylanders, and is a past president of the North American Mature Publishers Association (NAMPA), the trade association representing publications for boomers and older adults throughout the country.

 

Stuart is a graduate of Yale Law School and Oxford University, which he attended on a Marshall Fellowship.
