Trained as a sociologist, Marilyn has lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 30 years, managing major creative design services agencies in the 1980s, and moving into the field of computer graphics for Pacific Data Images, one of the first breakthrough CGI startups.  As head of talent and recruiting at PDI, Marilyn’s challenge was to find and nurture creative technologists, as well as technically-savvy artists. When PDI merged with DreamWorks Animation in the mid 1990s, Marilyn’s responsibilities shifted into more strategic solutions for training and retaining talent during a period of intense competition for artists and engineers. Her university outreach program was a key contributor to the company’s success, and created a true mentorship culture. Since leaving DreamWorks Animation in 2013, she has continued to consult at the intersection of talent, training, recruiting and has had a surprisingly gratifying stint as an elementary school educator.
