Geert Houben finished his studies in 2004 as Master in Computer Science at the University of Hasselt, Belgium. He immediately started working at the Expertise Centre for Digital Media, the ICT research institute of the university. He worked for 3 years in a European project in the automotive industry, where he was responsible for the user interfaces and front-end architecture. In 2006 he applied for a 2 year master course in Business Economics.


In 2008 he started the spin-off company Aristoco, working on the development of software applications for touch screens. The first product, Visiori, was launched in 2008 and sold to big optician groups. In 2011 Cubigo was launched, a web-based platform to help people age successfully in their own environment, providing a hub for care, community interaction and commercial services. It consists of a cloud-based communication and integration platform with an easy to use UI and smart data analytics. Cubigo is active in Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain and the USA, won several innovation awards across Europe and was selected for the Google Blackbox Connect program.
